YMLC
HEY everyone!
im back from YMLC again!
the second time i been to this conference.
btw its known as Young Methodist Leaders Conference!
sounds cool? XP haha
okies btw!
just here to share my experience over the past few days in the conference! (:
so firstly recap of last year YMLC,
i was the youngest from AMC and was in the youngest grp,
and had alot of fun with debbie, my roommate and all the AMC peeps. haha
and the theme was undying passion. (:
this year, i was the second youngest in the team! my bro is the youngest now! haha.
and the theme was unlimited power! :D
and guess what! i got the same mentor as i did last year! haha.
and u know! this year, all my grp members, females and males are all at least 3 to 4 years older than me! im the youngest in my grp! all of them are lyk in uni and everything, im soooo extra right! :P haha.
and my room mate was qiuluan! :D hahah
i tot i might not have a room mate cuz she is a mentor!
then we change rooms quite a few times! and we ended up in a handicap room! it is super spacious! cuz i guess its meant for wheelchairs to move around! hahaha. so cool right! :D everyone is 4 each room but we are 2! :D hehehe. so cool! and we have a nice view of the swimming pool! :D wheeee! haha.
oh oh! and i had the smallest luggage of all! haha! i win everyone! even the males! ahhahaha :D:D:D:D im soo pro! all thanks to my frequent camping packing skills. haha
linus still ask me to write out a packlist next time to teach everyone how to pack so small bags. lol so funny. hahaha
alright, so we got there super early okay! and had to wait for other ferries for soooooo long. i felt lyk slping even b4 the programme started /: cuz the wait was really longggg. haha
but anw, so we started the opening service abt the theme and i shall share the key points i take away with me! :D
i think they are good food-for-thought so yup, here goes:
-WE can overcome all the problems just lyk how Jesus did cuz he depended on the SAME power we do! which is the Holy Spirit! (:-Faith works only through Love.
1 cor 13:2 "... though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing."- the very first power and wonder God demonstrated was when we became the child of God.-Do not belittle our salvation, cuz that the first wonder God demonstrated in our lives with His power.-Love do not hurt.- You cannot say you love God if you do not love your neighbour.-power without love = works of the devilso after that was lunch, and i met my grp for the first time! haha. see if i can still remember all, there's ruth, amanda, abigail, clara, clarissa, sharon, ray, jeff, benjamin, dan and mentor, halim. haha (: i guess the food wasnt very appetizing and delicious. HAHAand guess what! everyone in my grp eat so little! even the guys! that i dun dare to go for second round okay! ITS BUFFET PPLE! HAHAHA.
then we had some ice breakers and discussion abt ourselves and our churches, then we had this game of making a catapult to see how can shoot a ping pong ball the furthest. haha. quite dumb haha and everyone nv use the materials provided! haha oh well. but i learn something from it! :D so here goes again:
-Be pasionate about the things you do.-As a leader what should your response be? Watch or participate?- A leader is one who takes the initiative to make a difference despite if he/she likes the situation they are in or not.-Not all well-planned programmes will run smoothly with the desired outcome.- A leader must be bold enough to make the difference.-You cannot choose the people you want to lead, and the situations/circumstances you are in, but you can choose the way you want to look at it.-even if the task was not my strengths but my weaknesses, i could do something more productive than watching, eg, encouraging others with the strength to take up the leadership role.guess this has brought me to think further abt my ministries and also my commitment in crescent.then free time! finally gt into my nicee big room and bathe.then was dinner! again i was sooo hungry okay. lack of food. LOLand was night worship, word and prayer.
it was abt healing. (:
its the FIRST time i have been to a healing service and seen pple getting healed instantly.
something so skeptical, actually coming true before my eyes, really greatly increases the faith of one. (:
and some of my takeaways below:
-Some who feels that they did not received healing might be due to their unforgiveness, grudges beared, bitterness inside them. Forgiveness is grace. To receive healing, one must first forgive.-Healing is an act of grace.-Some receive healing progressively, some instantly.-If you do not pray for someone, no one gets healed-Anointed healing can be a form of evangelism as people proclaim and testify of His power in their lives.and was bedtime! :Dhaha. next day, breakfast!
the first and only meal i ate the most! cuz we sat in our churches and the AMC peeps all realised that we eat so much so much more than any others. haha! and i wasnt the only one who is lyk the youngest in their whole grp! this year's grouping seems weird though. hahaha
then was morning worship and the talk abt power of God in John Wesley. hahaha i must say, i wasnt ard the first part cuz i ate too much and had a stomachache. tsktsk. so its not that good to eat so much after all. HAHA
but nvm! was still ard the second part so yup, again some things i learnt!
-guess being a methodist for so long, i finally have a better idea of what is methodism all about.- things from the methodist point of view, the importance of spiritual discipline, doctrine and experience.- that from the methodist point of view, the imptance of perservering faith after sanctifying grace is received.- the main thing abt John Wesley's methodist sect is discipline, accountability and a heart for the poor.after that was lunchh again, and then workshops! haha kinda unexpected from what i tot it was but still quite some takeaways! :D first workshop i attended was Harnessing the Power of the Team. - From Scriptures, Christ is above in the heavenly realms far above all things. And as part of the body of Christ, the Church, we are given delegated authority.-Different parts of the Armour of God and why is it so.1.We need to protect our mind with the assurance of our salvation as it will always be attacked by thoughts.2.We need to protect our heart with righteousness by walking right with God.3.Living a life of truth protects and makes us realiable and accountable to spread the Word.4.Wherever I should go, I must bring peace and harmony.5. Faith protects all attacks.6. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.-When everyone guards each other's back, we become more powerful and less vulnerable.-When we function as a part of the body of Christ, our enemy has no foothold.-Faith is rooted and established in Love.-The two most powerful forces in this world is LOVE and Selfish-ness.-Love keeps fruits of life alive, Self-centreness keeps sins alive.-Everything taught in the scriptures work on Love.-Live as children of light, a holy life and Love your neighbour in unity.the next workshop i attended was, Running Low on Power.notes not with me now. haha shall add in later :D
yada yada, same routine and it was night worship, word and prayer! :D
this night worship was led by rufus and band! (:
and tonight's word was about being anointed by the Holy Spirit.
-Whatever ministry I am in, I need the anointing of God.-God has unlimited power, therefore we need Him.-God will anoint us when we seek Him, the qn is how strong is our desire?-Hunger for God? pursue the anointing of God? Elisha wants a double portion of Elijah's anointing from God.-Ask in faith, receive in faith, feel the experience.- If God do not go with me, I will not goi missed the next session on the theme unlimited power )Xso the final session of the theme, (:
-be constantly filled with the Holy Spirit- Practise Love by stirring up/encourage one another -Worship the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind. Make it a regular part of our lives.-When we recognised the power of God, demons will flee.-For all things, we will give thanks in the name of our Lord as an act of obedience and not let our flesh take over as and sin.- Even in the difficult/tough/sorrowful times, we still give thanks bcuz Jesus is still Lord.-Have humility. Not only to authorities but also to those you are leading.-God resist pride so that He can resist your fall.haha! i think thats alot alot alot of things that i have learn. XPso that sums up my entire trip and im sure it was fruitful for me! :D
but before i go slp, haha. i must say this,
HAPPY BELATED 16TH BIRTHDAY, YUHUAA! :Dsorry for the super super late bday wish )Xand i still think u like green not yellow. :P
